£25m of European Funding is at risk after Liverpool Council deferred a planning decision on the demolition of the southern Churchill Way flyover at the end of Dale Street, potentially delaying the Merseytram project.

Yesterday a short-list of five bidders for the contract to build and run Merseytram was announced. See here for details.

22nd June 2003
A proposal to build a £16m transport hub in Allerton is to go before the City Council's Planning Committee next week. The interchange, to be on the former South Liverpool Football Club site, will link local and national rail services and local buses, as well as Merseytram Line 3, and will have a bus shuttle to the airport, which is about a mile away.

4th June 2003
It was announced today that Liverpool will be European Capital of Culture 2008. This can only be good news for the tram plans, I think.
